Berries & Coco Smoothie
Smoothies are definitely a staple in my day to day life. I find myself out of the house a lot so smoothies are something I can put in a jar and bring with me anywhere. I like to add different superfoods depending on what I'm doing to add an extra health bonus to them (I'll be sharing a list of those in another blog post soon). I recommend anyone add a smoothie a day to their diet as it's one of the easiest ways to ensure you're getting lots of fruits and veggies.
Here is a quick smoothie I make on a regular basis as a healthy meal on the go. It's loaded with antioxidants and low glycemic fruit that will ensure you don't spike your blood sugar. It's a vegan smoothie with added protein, and other good things that are 100%
optional but worth adding to any smoothie.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Blueberries
1 Cup Strawberries (I keep the green tops on to add extra greens)
1/2 Cup Raspberries
1 Cup Unsweetened Coconut Milk (I used Silk Coconut Milk for this recipe)
PS: Your fruit can be frozen or fresh. I have no preference in either just depends on the season and availability of the ingredients.
Always remember to wash your berries because they are highly
sprayed if they aren't organic.
The Awesome Add Ons
1/4 Cup Unsweetened Coconut shreds (optional)
2 Scoops protein powder (optional)
1 Tsp Maca Powder (optional)
1 Tsp Spirulina (optional)
PSS: Depending if you are adding the spirulina your smoothie will turn darker sometimes on the greener/brown side. It still tastes amazing, don't worry. Remember, its the flavour not the colour that matters.
Instructions:
1. Wash all ingredients (if not frozen) and remove any fresh strawberry stems. If you are in a rush you can always leave the stems on for added greens to your smoothie.
2. Blend all your ingredients and enjoy.
Have a wonderful day!
Bizou Bizou :)
