Green Citrus Juice

Here’s a recipe that will help you add a little green to your everyday citrus juice. Most orange/grapefruit juices bought in supermarkets are loaded with sugar. It's very important to implement fresh juices made at home to ensure you’re getting all the nutrients your body needs.

I recently came across and article

regarding the methods Tropicana uses in the processing of their orange and grapefruit juices. I grew up drinking this “100% orange juice with no additives or preservatives”. This article reveals the truth behind this well known and trusted brand. In order to order to keep the juice on shelves longer it's boiled. The boiling process essentially kills the bacteria, at the expense of flavour, valuable enzymes and vitamins. Flavoured orange “packets” are also added to the juice before shipping. The packets are said to be "natural", since they come from the orange, but really... how natural does that process sound to you? Here is the link if you’d like to read more on the topic.

The healthier alternative.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 celery stock

  • 1 cucumber

  • 1 lemon (peeled)

  • 1 grapefruit (peeled)

  • 1 mango (peeled and seed removed)

  • 3 kiwis

  • 1 bunch of mint (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash all produce (celery is one of the higher sprayed veggies if not organic)

  2. Peel all your citrus before putting it in your juicer (if you just toss it in the bitter oils in the peel will make your juice bitter as well)

  3. Juice all ingredients
