The magic of a good epsom salt bath
Hi guys, I hope you’re all doing great! I wanted to share a helpful tip that I’ve been incorporating in my self care routine. Now this can be done daily or as many times as needed. I’ve recently discovered the benefits of salt baths. Salt baths are an excellent tool to incorporate for added relaxation and clearing energies that linger in the body. I’ll mix up the timing of these baths depending on my mood and will either have one in the evening or in the morning. This bath is equipped with epsom salts (1-2 cups) and bubble bath of your choice for added aromatherapy.
Epsom salt baths are so beneficial as they help to clear your aura and energetic body, clear away tension and help to soothe sore muscles. Added bonus is your salt has magnesium incorporated in it. Magnesium is an essential nutrient needed for the body to promote heath by balancing out cortisol levels in the body and aiding you to get good nights sleep. I like to use this time to focus internally, observe how I’m feeling, process emotions/thoughts and set positive intensions by working through blocks adding in some mantras, positive affirmations and doing some self care (masks, foot scrubs, massage..whatever). This will without a doubt help you clear energy and set yourself up for success and peace.
The process is quite simple. Once your bath is drawn and the scene is set with everything you may require such as (water, tea, hand towel, journals, mantra books, face massager, foot scrubs, body scrubs etc) get in the bath and start to relax. Use this time to connect with your physical, emotional, energetic and mental body. Notice where you are holding tension and soften those areas of the body. Something I like to do (ever since I’m a kid) is dunk my whole face under water and feel the water around my entire body. Let your head relax and float in the water and start taking long deep breaths. With your head in the water you may start to notice your heart beat, breath and even voice much clearer. The bath holds a certain resonance which help intensify sounds and vibrational energy. I like to relax with my head floating and sing a few OMs (AH-OH-MM). While singing this chant focus on bringing loving energy in your heart or start to cultivate a sense of peace. Feel the energy vibrating and surrounding your whole body. Doing this is like having your own personal resonance chamber (a true Sound Bath if you will).
Completely soften and relax. As you do this and get softer you will notice your mind becoming clearer and louder. Notice what your thoughts are saying as they are signs of things that you are trying to process. Notice if you have any to-do lists or thoughts that require your attention and see if they can be dealt by journaling and writing them down on paper. Often times writing things down help you to process your thoughts which in return allow your mind to get a bit more quiet. Don’t worry, you can address your to-do list once your out of the bath! I also love using mantras to help clear out energy and thoughts as well. This allows you to set more positive thoughts in your subconscious mind. Other things you can do in the bath are self-care and self-soothing activities. Listen to what your body is asking you to do. Perhaps you’d enjoy a nice foot scrub or self massage. Perhaps a face mask and body scrub is what you’re craving. Start building this mind body connection by listening to what your body is asking you to do. This may also help you tap into creative ideas, intuitive insights and guidance from your body which are designed to help you align yourself with higher energy and thoughts. Write down any insights and thoughts you get in the bath and try implementing them in your life! Our bodies know exactly what it needs and when, we often just need to ask ourselves and implement the knowledge.
It’s also great to take this time and embody love and other energies that will help fuel your body and soul. By doing this process you will learn how to gain energy from within and will learn to tap into certain energies in an instant. Over time you may even notice that you no longer require outside energy sources in the form of food, people or circumstances. Starting in the heart is a good way to start incorporating more energy into your life. If this seems cheesy to you then bring your focus on neutrality/equanimity. Just allow thoughts to come and go and find a sense of peace and calm from within. Overtime perhaps that calming sensation bring you a sense of joy or a sensation of love and even laughter. Allow these emotions to grow and build overtime. As you learn to build these emotions in the body you will be better able to tap into them in an instant. You can also cultivate love by feeling your heart beat or finding gratitude in your heart for the blessings in your life.
Once you feel ready to leave your bath ask yourself what would be most beneficial for you to do next. Perhaps you are in a creative mood now and can use this extra energy to work on a book you’ve been writing or maybe you’d enjoy painting, meditating, cooking or planning your day. Listen to what your heart is calling you to do and do it.
I hope you find the time in your life to incorporate this self loving tool in your life. It is so important to take small moments like these to connect with ourselves and allow calm and peaceful energies to move through us. During these stressful times follow your heart and mitigate stress as best you can. Consume healthy foods, thoughts and emotions and you will start to feel uplifted.
Sending you all so much Love and Light
